As a cybersecurity researcher and crypto activist, Sam’s dedication and passion in the cloud space has been alive and well before the term cloud was born. Nile founded and runs a 9,000+ member Facebook group dedicated to helping WordPressers, called All About WordPress. When Nile isn’t knee deep in coding and design, she’s spending time with her son, who is also a WordPress user.

Steve Grunwell is a Senior Software Engineer at Liquid Web. Specializing in WordPress and application development he has worked with brands and organizations including Microsoft, TED, Xylem, Elmer’s, and Experience Columbus.

Steve has released numerous plugins in the WordPress.org repositories, including one from the grounds of The White House during the first annual National Day of Civic Hacking in 2013. When he’s not writing software he enjoys hiking, music, and writing about writing software on his blog.

Gery Deer

Gery L. Deer is an award-winning writer, creative director, and the owner and CEO of GLD Enterprises Communications, Ltd., a strategic marketing and public relations firm he founded in 1998. He grew up on his family farm in Jamestown, Ohio working livestock, participating in 4-H, and working as a mechanic, truck driver, and marketer in his father’s agricultural trucking business.

Gery attended Wright State University, Sinclair Community College, and Ohio University where he studied mechanical engineering and computer science. After college, he worked in technical fields as a technician and analyst, database developer, and researcher studying oil refinery operations all around the U.S. and Canada. Gery got his start as start as a freelance writer as a way help pay for college but also worked on-campus jobs and as a pianist in area restaurants and nightclubs.

Gery left the engineering industry to focus on his writing and follow in his family’s tradition of entrepreneurship. He started his first company, an IT and software consulting firm, in June of 1994 – GLD Enterprises Communications is an off-shoot of that business – and today is a leading expert in the areas of business development, public relations, and marketing. Since 2012 he has served as the business contributor to the WDTN-TV2 daytime program, Living Dayton and is the co-founder and Executive Director of the Western Ohio Writers Association.

During the last 30+ years, he has written for more than 300 separate publications, print and online, as well as countless other organizations. Gery’s syndicated op-ed series, Deer In Headlines, has been published for nearly a decade in more than a half-dozen publications and earned a 2010 nomination for a Pulitzer Prize in journalism.

As full as his schedule is, Gery does find time for some volunteer work. Since 2016 he has served as chairperson of the Executive Council and Communications Committee of Prevent Blindness Ohio’s Miami Valley Ohio chapter and was recently elected to the board member of the Yellow Springs, Ohio Chamber of Commerce. Gery has been involved in H7 for nearly two years and was recently recognized by BNI Miami Valley Region for more than a decade of outstanding networking achievements.
